u/busterbalz · 2024
Marathon
The runner enjoyed the riverbank and softer gravel sections, but found the small marathon field quiet once it separated from the half. Sparse flags on one dirt section caused uncertainty. Their sister's support helped them through a difficult final stretch and a rewarding first-marathon finish.
A 2024 first-marathon report on Reddit. The runner's preparation and family support shaped the late-race experience. Course markings, field size and crowd observations describe that edition; they do not establish current routing or service standards. No affiliation or gifted entry is stated.

Terry Jones (John A. Lejeune Lodge)
Event context · see format details
Terry described opening the lodge so walkers, runners and supporters could take a break from a particularly warm day. He was glad the lodge could support the event and offer a welcoming place to cool off.
Perspective: race volunteer; this is not a finisher review. A local support-host account published in the lodge’s October 2024 newsletter, not an athlete review or independent assessment. Terry writes on behalf of the lodge about its own assistance. The exact race year is unknown: the column calls it the second annual event, while the current listing’s edition count does not resolve that date. Warmth concerns that historical occasion; present weather, participant comfort and current facilities are not established. No completed distance or numerical rating is claimed.

Friend Mouse · 2024
Event context · see format details
Friend Mouse found the event well run and its start area scenic, described a rough access road, and found the first hill long when hiking it after the starts.
Perspective: spectator; this is not a finisher review. This is a 2024 spectator and runner-supporter account. The author watched the starts and finish and hiked the first hill; it does not establish full-course experience or an ultra finish. The companion raced the marathon, and the author’s account of his experience is secondhand.

David Gifford · 2022
Event context · see format details
David found the 2022 handcycle marathon exceptionally difficult: his low-clearance racing handcycle repeatedly grounded on the uneven final section, and uncertain markings led to a wrong turn. He nevertheless praised the water and medical stations and the volunteers who helped him.
A participant’s account of the October 2022 handcycle event, published in his veterans’ chapter newsletter. This is historical event context, not a foot-marathon review. His clearance difficulties and route-finding concerns concern that handcycle and edition; current courses, adaptive categories and assistance may differ. His chapter affiliation and the newsletter’s selection are disclosed; no race-organizer affiliation is stated.

Miranda Bachman · 2026
Marathon
Miranda found the high-altitude race exceptionally hard. Rocks, roots and uneven trail required constant attention to foot placement, and she alternated running and walking when breathing became difficult. She appreciated the autumn weather and family encouragement.
Miranda Bachman’s brief personal 2026 full-marathon log. Self-reported and not independently verified. Her account describes personal difficulty at altitude; no medical conclusion or independently measured elevation claim is inferred.

Brian Pautzke · 2024
Marathon
Pautzke enjoyed the community atmosphere and running alongside newcomers on his local trails. The out-and-back let runners see one another, while late hills made the final section demanding. Receiving a medal from his own students made finishing particularly meaningful.
A 2024 trail-marathon report by a local teacher who had participated every year and was also a race committee member. Published as a contributor article in Turnagain News. These community and organizational ties affect the perspective. Route direction and river-crossing plans can change; this is historical experience, not a current safety or distance certification claim.

Tracy and Peter Flucke · 2024
Event context · see format details
During their May 2024 cycling journey, Tracy and Peter Flucke included Creekside Trail between Dayton and Xenia among trails they found generally in good shape. Their report separately criticizes another trail; that criticism does not concern this shared Creekside section.
Perspective: course preview outside the race; race-day execution is not established. Historical cycling context from May 27, 2024. This is a brief condition assessment of the trail network they rode, including Creekside, rather than a detailed account of this race segment. It excludes the E.J. Nutter start spur and their criticism of a different trail. They did not review this marathon or its services; conditions may have changed. The authors promote their cycling work and books. This one account is reused for three seasonal listings. The complete original reader response was retained before a later access refusal.

Rich (Hiking and Biking USA)
Event context · see format details
During a ride on Longview’s Paul G. Boorman Trail, Rich enjoyed the green surroundings, tall trees, fresh air and wide concrete creekside path.
Perspective: course preview outside the race; race-day execution is not established. Outside-race cycling context from a video published July 16, 2026; the actual outing date and year are unknown. His described full Boorman ride includes the northern section used by this race, an overlap inferred from the description and maps rather than a recorded track or exact starting point. His broad trail appraisal does not isolate every race portion. Only his Boorman comments around 0:44–1:06 are used, excluding the other trails, parking, services and markers. This does not review the marathon or establish current conditions.

Alejandro Lopez (alejandro_montana94) · 2026
Ultra
Alejandro called the 2026 race a great experience and credited the staff, fellow athletes and overnight encouragement with helping him keep going.
A brief original participant reflection explicitly naming Midnight Recon 2026 and its 36-mile distance. This is one athlete’s assessment of that historical overnight outing, not an independent evaluation of every service, the current route or safety. The caption’s general motivational and personal background is not used as race feedback.

Lisa T · 2018
Ultra
Lisa found the shorter loop’s gentler grassy descents easier on tired legs. She recovered from a difficult middle stretch and valued the tactical challenge, although the choice of loops made rivals’ positions hard to judge.
Historical participant report from the 2018 individual six-hour race. Lisa reports 31.1 miles; this is not an independently verified result. Her account describes a 3.35-mile loop and a one-mile option; current advertised loop lengths differ, so those details do not establish the present course or rules.

Philip K. Perkins · 2018
Ultra
Philip liked the easy navigation, personal-aid access, heated bathrooms and repeated contact with runners of different abilities. He called the event well run, although the flat repeated loop became mentally demanding.
Reported format: 24-hour solo entry; 100 mi (160.9 km).
