Ultra

Mike praised the scenery, varied aid food, race directors and finish buckle. Heat made his run harder than expected, and he once needed another runner’s spare water between stops. Despite a difficult final stretch, he described the event as memorable and fun.

One self-published account of the December 2021 100K. Heat, mosquitoes, aid arrangements and course observations concern that edition; they do not establish current conditions or safety. His water difficulty describes his own experience and carrying needs, not an independently established aid failure. The organizer has postponed the 2026 race until 2027, with a replacement date unannounced. Auto-generated captions may contain errors. No personal placing, finish time or numerical rating was independently verified.

Barry Kaye

Event context · see format details

Barry Kaye described Half Day's trails as flat, with easy walking or riding.

Community opinion; participation and firsthand experience are not established. Attributed outside-race opinion about Half Day Forest Preserve's connected trail network, used through an inferred connection to the planned race. The published race listing describes a Half Day loop in the Des Plaines River corridor; official sources and maps connect local Half Day paths to that corridor and Wright Woods. Barry's actual activity, visit date and assessed branches are unknown. Neither a common individual segment nor the complete race loop is established. An official local result is a grass path, so his opinion does not verify uniform gravel surfacing, elevation, current conditions or race services. The map displays a 2017 attribution; continuity into a future race is unverified. Spring/March 2027 rescheduling remains separate, with the exact day unannounced.
