Sean Anderson · 2009
Event context · see format details
Sean Anderson described a 2009 power walk around Boomer Lake on its continuous paved sidewalk as both enjoyable and unusually hard because of the intense heat that day.
Perspective: course preview outside the race; race-day execution is not established. Historical outside-race course context from an August 2009 walk around Boomer Lake. The current mapped race uses part of the same paved lakeside circuit, repeated to reach race distance. His difficult heat experience applies only to that old summer day and is not a forecast or typical race condition. This does not review the current route’s full distance, surface, aid or organization. No race-organizer affiliation is stated.

Derek Clark · 2018
Marathon
Derek loved the river, forest and rail-trail scenery, including a memorable dark tunnel. He praised encouraging aid volunteers and staffed road crossings, then enjoyed substantial finish food. The repetitive flat-to-gently-descending running left him sore despite his usual preference for hillier races.
A 2018 full-marathon account by physical therapist and running coach Derek Clark on his practice’s website, a commercial professional affiliation. This inaugural course and services may differ today. His performance perspective favors hillier terrain; source jokes, personal medical speculation and comparative speed claims are not imported as facts.

Carol McCreary · 2026
Event context · see format details

Perspective: course preview outside the race; race-day execution is not established. Course-landmark context from an April 2026 visit, published May 25. The organizer names the Bridge of Glass on Grit City's downtown loop; this account concerns that pedestrian crossing, not participation in the ultra, the full loop, repeated laps, race support or current conditions. The exact race alignment beyond the named landmark was not established.

Peggy enjoyed exploring Glenroy’s wide historic paths during a roughly seven-mile hike. She found much of the walking easy and pleasant, with some steep sections requiring more care.
Perspective: course preview outside the race; race-day execution is not established. Outside-race course context from an October 2022 hike around Glenroy Preserve. Kettle Cooker uses this named trail system, but the account predates the event and does not establish the precise race route, current trail conditions, creek crossings or race support.

Tyson Wieland (Race Chats with Blaze host and Blazing race director) · 2025
Event context · see format details
Looking back at the 2025 Blazing 5K, Tyson says combining the elite women with the open race helped add company for runners whose preferred pace lacked a pacer. He felt that change worked well and planned to continue it.
Perspective: event staff; this affiliated account is not an independent participant review. A short promotional retrospective from the Blazing race director about the 2025 5K, published in September 2026. It concerns the related shorter race’s combined field, not a marathon experience or a promise about the new 2027 marathon. The episode thanks race sponsors and invites registration. The publisher-provided transcript contains speech-recognition errors, so names, results and precise numerical claims are not inferred from it.

Antin · 2022
Marathon
Antin enjoyed this low-key marathon despite reservations about repeating laps. Clear mile markers, many volunteers and plentiful aid impressed him. The arboretum climb was tough on the second lap, but the university setting and company helped him finish happily around four and a half hours.
Antin’s 2022 full-marathon report. The repeated laps, arboretum climb and logistics describe that edition; current details may differ.

Sheila K. (2017) and Tonya W. (2018)
Event context · see format details
Sheila liked watching the buffalo but found the 2017 start delayed and communication late, and reported missing promised gels. Tonya’s 2018 assessment was much more positive: she praised the scenery, helpful volunteers, organization and medal, and wanted to return.
Mixed-distance historical event context from two self-reported attendees: Sheila K. in 2017 and Tonya W. in 2018. Their distances are unknown and their identities and attendance are not independently verified. The page’s five-review total includes an explicit half-marathon review and must not be treated as five full-marathon ratings.
