Robyn enjoyed the quiet, pine-shaded stretches of Lake Bastrop’s North-South Trailway and the softer footing under fallen pine needles.

The current Autumn Harvest 50K description explicitly uses the same North-South Trailway between Lake Bastrop South Shore and North Shore parks. Her outing skipped the first thousand feet and added dam and Buzzard Point detours. The runner loved the autumn lake views and felt CanLake was worth returning to annually. Underestimating the rolling road climbs contributed to a difficult middle section, but they regrouped and finished strongly with a personal best.

Dawn Braun described difficulty following trail distances on the map during her historical Barkhausen walk, and found attempted shortcuts frustrating.

Community opinion; participation and firsthand experience are not established. Historical community trail-network context, with an inferred connection to the proposed race course. The registration names a marked loop at Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve, and its volunteer page specifies a Lineville Road trail crossing. Braun identifies a Lineville Road crossing in the preserve’s south-side Fort Howard area, but her exact assessed walking sections and the race’s particular crossing are unverified. Her account discusses a 2018 revisit and older visits; it does not assess race participation or the planned marked race loop. Exact shared trails, length, direction and present geometry remain unknown. This is her historical map-reading and shortcut experience, not a claim about current race wayfinding, conditions, access, facilities, services or safety.

During their June 2021 ride around Promised Land Lake, Dave and Kathy found North Shore Road well maintained and explored lakeside viewpoints and stream inlets. They continued along Park Avenue near Conservation Island.

Marathon

SanCartier appreciated the excellent volunteers and inexpensive, simple setup, but found the rolling country-road course repetitive and demanding. Running with another entrant made the small-field marathon more enjoyable. He recommended the event for its people while remaining unsure he would return.

Personal preparation affected the hill assessment. That edition was in March, while the current registration is for October 2027, so its cold-weather experience and services are historical.

Marathon

Chris enjoyed the scenery on a point-to-point route from a remote park near Ashland, along country roads and bike paths into downtown Medford. He felt the net downhill and cool weather helped him finish in 3:47.

Marathon

Anton enjoyed the friendly helpers, lively crowd hotspots and stadium welcome, including the celebration for the last finisher. He found the early narrow section crowded and the riverside stretch quieter. He praised plentiful aid while describing warm conditions and a difficult final few kilometres.
