    Jake Gillette · 2022

    Marathon

Gillette found the repeated hills harder on the second loop and noted confusion at an initially unattended turnaround. Winning made the finish satisfying. He praised the volunteers, post-race food, free photos, awards and music, and recommended the event with its hills in mind.

A 2022 full-marathon account by the race winner, a running coach and experienced marathoner. His competitive perspective and favorable conditions shaped the appraisal. Turnaround staffing and route observations are historical; no current defect or unchanged layout is inferred. No gifted entry is stated.

    Benjamin Mazur · 2013

    Ultra

Benjamin enjoyed the forest scenery, friendly volunteers and running with well-matched friends. A rough railroad bed, faint trail sections and steep descents required care, but he felt the inaugural race was well run and finished feeling good.

Reported format: 50 km (31.1 miles) event.

    Marathon

The runner liked the mostly flat course, volunteers, pacers, toilets and bag check. Repeating the loop was less troublesome than expected. Stomach problems spoiled a time goal, but the author praised attentive finish medics and recommended the event despite personal difficulties.

An anonymous runner’s 2019 full-marathon report; the Reddit account name has been deleted, while the report remains public. Personal stomach problems and that edition’s course and organization should not be treated as current guarantees.

    Charisa Wernick · 2016

Event context · see format details

Charisa enjoyed running among the giant redwoods but switched from the full to the half after seeing the course and severe weather forecast. She appreciated the flexibility and was relieved to have finished before a heavy downpour. Even the half felt harder after an initially comfortable opening.

Other-distance context from Charisa Wernick’s 2016 half marathon after switching from the full. The storm and pacing were edition-specific. The blog has sports-brand and athlete links, but no complimentary race entry is stated. Her full-course expectations do not establish a full-marathon experience.

    KBrush · 2025

    Marathon

KBrush liked the mountain scenery and found the shuttle to the start easy, but thought parts of the course were boring. The review stresses the high-altitude start, initial descent and hills later in the race.
