What racers and reviewers say

  • A very hilly out-and-back east of Hood River with river views. About 300 marathoners and 1,000 half marathoners made it lively, not crowded, with no aid lines. Aid had water, Gatorade, Gu and gummy bears. Bag check, porta-potties and school bus transport worked, and the finish had tacos, soup, cider and local IPA. The writer set a 20-minute PR and signed up again.

    “It. Was. Gorgeous!”

    Run Oregon
  • A scenic, never flat course past the Twin Tunnels near 6 km (4 mi), with two long climbs, rollers and three big descents. Aid every 3 to 5 km (2 to 3 mi), a 4-page competitor guide, a slow packet pickup line, record rain the day before and a 16 km (9.9 mi)/h (10 mph) headwind late. Called a great weekend trip.

“The course really is the highlight of this race.”

    Run Oregon
  • The same scenic out-and-back route, rolling with about 340 m (1,112 ft) of gain in the half and a maximum 5% grade. Five aid stations, quick toilet lines, easy packet pickup, staggered waves with the marathon at 08:30, and a 4 km (2.5 mi) shuttle for marathoners. Cool drizzle turned to rain. Author called it a must-do.

    “It was, quite honestly, perfection.”
