- Sells out months ahead; the 2022 date change had no refunds and a missed turn.
- Cutoff at 10.3 km (6.4 mi) is 8:05; plan for 8:41 min/km (14 min/mi).

What racers and reviewers say
- RaceRaves (129 reviews)Raced 2019-2026 · aggregator · Positive
4.3 out of 5 (difficulty 2.7, scenery 4.1, production 4.3, swag 3.4). Most say net downhill and a strong PR or BQ course, though some find the descent steeper in feel than flat. Shuttle at 04:00 is the main grumble; aid and crowds are mixed; the 2022 edition had a missed turn.
“Having to wake at 2:45 for a 4am shuttle is brutal”
- Run Eat Repeat marathon recapRaced 2014 · blog · Positive
Calls it one of the easiest marathon courses she has run: flat, fast and few turns with a long downhill. Warm sun in the last miles; she saw four runners collapse and advises not going out fast on the downhill. Older edition on a different date.
“It is a great course to qualify for Boston”
- Run Eat Repeat half marathon recapRaced 2026 · blog · Positive
Half-marathon recap, April 19 2026: fast, gently net-downhill course with bigger hills near miles 10.5 to 11 and 12 (km 17 to 18 and 19). Cold start, little wind, easy shuttle, quiet course and uneven electrolytes. Her marathon-running friends chose it to chase big goals.
- Runner's Connect course guideRaced 2019-2024 data · article · neutral
Net 755 ft (230 m) downhill. Only real climbing is the first 3 mi (5 km); the Casitas Pass descent drops 381 ft (116 m) in miles 8 to 15 (km 13 to 24). Warns of quad fatigue and logs start temps of 52 to 63 °F (11 to 17 °C (63 °F)).
- BibRave reviewsRaced 2016 · aggregator · Positive
84 percent of 13 reviewers recommended it. A 2016 reviewer called it a great PR race with a small but decent expo; drawbacks were the early start and the shuttles needed for a point-to-point.
