Norbert Haupt · 2025
On a November 2025 mountain-bike outing around Diamond Valley Lake, Norbert Haupt described much of the perimeter dirt road as rutted. The cold, drizzly and quiet conditions made him feel isolated while riding without his phone.
Source context and limitations
Perspective: course preview outside the race; race-day execution is not established. Outside-race cycling context from November 22, 2025 on the Diamond Valley Lake perimeter road, which forms part of the marathon’s lake loop. The race registration advertises course changes for 2026, so this does not establish the current surface, extra marathon sections, weather, staffing or aid. His isolation comment concerns that quiet day and riding without his phone, not a general race-safety finding. No race-organizer affiliation is stated.
