Henry Howard · 2023
Henry found the January 2023 race a satisfying fitness challenge, with repeated rolling hills, muddy footing and a final section in darkness. High water forced a last-minute route change; he found the emailed directions confusing but appreciated repeating a section he had already seen before it became dark.
Source context and limitations
A coach’s account of the January 2023 winter marathon. High water caused an edition-specific reroute that he described as longer than 26.2 miles; his watch estimate is not a certified measurement. This does not establish the current route or conditions. The article includes gear promotion, and the same publisher later promoted this race; no gifted Night Owl entry is stated.
