This walker enjoyed the river views and wildlife along Lowell Riverfront Trail, but reported a fenced-off northern section and road-access construction. They recommended allowing time for the projects to finish.
Source context and limitations
Perspective: course preview outside the race; race-day execution is not established. Independent walking observations of Lowell Riverfront Trail from September 2026, after the listed April race date. This is narrow shared-trail familiarity, not attendance at the Pirate race or a marathon course review. The walker liked the river views and wildlife and reported construction and road detours on the northern stretch. Those observations do not establish race-day conditions, services, current trail completion or the full course. The race’s currently linked detour map and printed repetition/distance instructions conflict, so the actual race route remains unconfirmed.
