Reports and event feedback
- Buff Granny — a beautiful setting and a better Spartan experience ↗
Buff Granny / unnamed personal-blog author · 2014
Enjoys the Heritage Ranch setting, swimming through the river and completing the spear throw. Says this outing changed her earlier poor impression of Spartan races.
The complete September 2014 post identifies Saturday 6 September at Heritage Ranch and a reported thirteen-kilometre Super with twenty-one obstacles. The writer says she signed up and paid her Trifecta fees. Her complaints about a separate July race are not assigned to Red Deer; companions are not separate reviews. Exact measurement and results are unverified. The same containing post also describes Sun Peaks, which is a different property and experience.
- Glenn Hole and selected racers — challenging obstacles, trails and missing Sprint carries ↗
Glenn Hole / participant reporter with selected athlete interviews · 2016
The writer enjoys the wooded trails and increasingly challenging grip obstacles. Selected racers also praise the terrain, while criticizing omitted Sprint carries and, in one account, a spear-throw queue.
The complete original report and all contained quotations were read. Glenn Hole’s publication date is 12 September 2016; the exact raced days are unstated. He describes his own Super and Sprint and selected voices from Faye Stenning, Austin Azar, Kristian Weiclawek, Kody O’Brien, Mikhail Gerylo, Nancy Loranger and Michelle Ford. This is one containing publication, not eight independently sourced reviews. His interview with the race director is organizer context. Exact classes, results and funding are not independently checked; no overall score is stated.
- JG — excellent trails with reservations about volunteering and extra charges ↗
JG / For the Love of OCR participant report · 2016
Enjoys the wooded trails, varied terrain and obstacles and would return. Describes some volunteer confusion and reservations about extra charges and post-race water; a companion found spectator access limited.
Only the complete Red Deer section, including its conclusion, was read on this multi-review page. It explicitly identifies 3 September 2016, Heritage Ranch and an approximately thirteen-kilometre Super. The writer signs JG; full identity, entry class and funding are unstated. Spectator comments partly come from a companion, and charges and volunteer observations are personal reports, not audited current policies. Other race sections and generic safety or training claims are excluded.
- Kody O’Brien and Nancy Loranger — a fast Sprint and a wet, demanding Super ↗
Kody O’Brien and Nancy Loranger / joint participant report posted by Glenn Hole · 2018
Kody values clear markings, water stations and spectator energy but finds some carries less demanding. Nancy enjoys the technical trails and appreciates the crew’s preparation while finding the wet obstacles and grip sequence challenging.
The complete two-section original was read. The body credits Kody and Nancy, while the CMS header names Glenn Hole as poster. Kody identifies Saturday 9 June 2018 at Heritage Ranch, an advertised eight-kilometre Sprint and a self-reported 7.7 kilometres; Nancy describes the following day’s fourteen-kilometre Super. Those measurements and results are unverified. A reported pre-race vandalism announcement is not an independently established incident. The joint publication counts once; funding is unstated.

- The original Spartan-branded 2025 Canada National Series map names Heritage Ranch and 9–10 August 2025, showing Sprint and Super routes and a separate children’s course. Its twenty-six combined obstacle-guide entries do not mean every class uses every obstacle. The profiles extend to approximately 5.5 and 10.5 kilometres; these are map estimates, not certified measurements. The map explicitly allows changes and does not itself prove actual occurrence.
- The contemporary 2023 preview independently names Heritage Ranch, 6300 Cronquist Drive, for 22–23 July, with nominal five-kilometre Sprint and ten-kilometre Super options. Its separate Hurricane Heat is an endurance programme. An older street address does not establish the precise 2025 start gate.
- This property is separate from the current Westerner Park Red Deer listing. The 2014, 2016 and 2018 participant experiences below do not assess Westerner Park or establish an unchanged 2025 route. No future Heritage Ranch edition is verified.
- Historical reports describe different distances, obstacles, carries, weather and services. Personal times, places, penalty counts and medal outcomes are not overall race ratings. No overall score is supported by the checked sources.
