    Tom (displayed byline) · 2016

Tom describes crowding and contact in an eight-person swim lane, an uncomfortable barefoot route to transition, and a windy bike course with three hairpins per lap. On the two-lap run he found it hard to distinguish direct competitors from runners being lapped.

    Source context and limitations

First-person 2016 Weiden Sprint report. The writer reports 18 km cycling and 5 km running; today’s listing gives 4.5 km running. His barefoot discomfort is a personal assessment, and his later cheering for the short-distance field is not an account of racing that format.
