Vasco Vilaça, interviewed by Doug Gray for World Triathlon · 2026
Vilaça describes a hard, fast run and losing a little time after going wide at the final U-turn during his battle for the finish.
Source context and limitations
Brief firsthand 2026 elite-racer assessment published by World Triathlon, the series governing body. This is elite festival context for Quiberon, not feedback from a 2027 Open entrant or evidence that Open courses, lap counts or rules match the elite race. The narrow final-turn incident is the athlete’s account, not a general course-safety verdict.

Phoebe Carter, interviewed by Kent Gray for Swim Bike Run · 2026
Carter enjoyed the coastal run, supporters and atmosphere. She describes sheltering from a headwind on the out-and-back run and losing her bike group while struggling with her own cycling shoes.
Source context and limitations
Firsthand 2026 elite-athlete interview published by Swim Bike Run, which identifies itself as Tri NZ’s official publication. This is national-federation publication and historical elite-race context, not an independent review of the 2027 Open event. The shoe difficulty is the athlete’s own equipment handling. No Open-course equivalence, current weather or future lap-count claim is made.
