The novice found the bike hills much harder than expected, enjoyed the downhill relief and felt pleased with improved transitions. Despite a difficult swim, the race was fun and challenging.
Historical 2019 Sprint-branded participant account. Only the 400 m swim is explicitly measured in the narrative, so this is event context. Flat-terrain training shaped the hill assessment. The returning racer said they enjoyed the event. Transition felt tight but manageable, and the long descents on good roads provided fun relief from the climbing.
