Woodstock, United Kingdom · June · Independent (Supertri Blenheim)
Course: 0.8 km (0.5 mi) swim, 19.8 km (12.3 mi) bike, 5.4 km (3.4 mi) run. 750 m (0.47 mi), 19.8 km (12.3 mi), 5.4 km (3.4 mi). A 2013 blogger measured the swim at 705 m (0.44 mi), run 5.5 km (3.4 mi).
Why people love it
- Transition is in the palace courtyard, with the lake and grounds around you.
- Bike and run are on closed estate roads and paths.
- The 400 m (0.25 mi) super sprint is a gentle first triathlon.
- Free competitor parking and big, noisy crowds on the finish straight.
- Wave starts and marshals on a wide, easy-to-sight lake course.
Watch out for
- Long, steep, barefoot run uphill from the lake to the courtyard transition.
- Three-lap bike has two climbs a lap and a steep descent to a blind corner.
- Wetsuit is compulsory, so practise getting it off quickly on the uphill run.
- Rain in 2025 and 2026 made roads slippery; pack for wet weather.
- Spectators need pre-booked tickets and parking is for competitors only.

What racers and reviewers say
- Racecheck (Jonathan C.)Raced 2012 · aggregator · Positive
Rated the event highly. Wide lake swim with one turn and helpful marshals on the slippery exit. Scenic, multi-lap rolling bike where faster riders pass you. The run from the lake to transition is steep and long, so strip the wetsuit early. Safety briefing and crowd support were strong at the palace.
“A great event with fantastic support.”
- Racecheck (Andrianna C.)Raced 2014 · aggregator · Positive
Loved the palace grounds setting and the carpeted courtyard transition. The lake swim was easy with marshals at the exit; the barefoot run up the hill to transition was the toughest part. Bike scenic and undulating, run picturesque with good support. Event is pricey but worth it.
- Ben's Place blog (Sprint 2013)Raced 2013 · blog · Positive
First open-water sprint for this racer. The deep-water mass start was calmer than feared but sighting without lanes was harder. Three-lap bike with two decent climbs; a bus-damaged footbridge forced a dismount each lap, costing minutes. Pulling the wetsuit off on the run to transition was hard.
- Coach magazine (Nick Hutchings)Raced 2015 · article · Positive
Returning racer after four years. Calls the 19.8 km (12.3 mi) bike short, hilly and fast with winding wooded descents. The two-lap 5.67 km (3.5 mi) run has a long climb on each loop. Describes it as among the UK's best multisport races with a lively crowd.
- Alpkit blog (Matt Hammerton)Raced 2008 · blog · Positive
Early edition: 750 m (0.47 mi) swim starting in a busy 'washing machine', closed-road bike laps through the grounds, and a hot, hilly run. Transition was in the palace forecourt after a climb from the lake. About 5,500 racers over two days, one of the UK's biggest events then.

- Mirror Writing (Allan Sutherland)Raced 2024 · blog · Positive
A couch-to-5K novice who swam breaststroke through choppy water and was jostled by Weekend Warriors. Found the three-lap 20 km (12.4 mi) bike hilly and the transition walk long and pebbly. Upbeat announcer and cheering family made it fun.
- Zone3 recap (various athletes)Raced 2025 · article · Positive
Athletes call the lake serene and the swim enjoyable, but warn of a steep hill between swim exit and transition. Bike is multi-lap with a mostly uphill first half, steep accelerations and tight turns. Rain and some thunder, yet praise for organisers and crowds. Wetsuit rental offered.
- UK Run ChatRaced 2025 · article · Positive
Race news for the 21st edition (7-8 June 2025): sprint doubled as British and English sprint championships and GB qualifier. Formats were super sprint, sprint, relay and Weekend Warrior; 509 running clubs took part and over GBP 130,000 was raised for charity. No weather or water detail.
- 220 Triathlon (Weekend Warriors, Supertri Blenheim)Raced 2026 · article · Positive
Newcomer did three sprints on one wet, windy day. Lake warmer than expected and a bit choppy with a calm start; steep climb out of the water. Bike traffic-free but slippery with a fast descent to a blind corner and a bumpy bridge. Marshals and crowds well placed; Supertri organisation praised.
