What racers and reviewers say

  • About 500 competitors in the 11th edition, seven records broken. About 220 people were doing their first triathlon. Called fantastically organised and friendly. Sprint was 750 m (0.47 mi) / 18 km (11.2 mi) / 5 km (3.1 mi); Olympic had a 38 km (23.6 mi) bike.

  • 220 Triathlon (Norwich Triathlon 2011 preview)Raced 2011 · article · Positive

Preview of the 3 July 2011 race: about 430 entrants, run by Tri-Anglia, sponsored by a local law firm, with first-time relay teams and a local athlete who finished 70th of 76 in the 2005 inaugural race. Shows the race dates from 2005.

  • Organiser says no big hills, a slightly undulating bike and a run around the broad with a short wooded path; register on race morning, no swim hat is supplied, and swim waves are split by expected speed so slower swimmers are not intimidated. Organiser source, so upbeat.

  • Undated forum comments seen only through a search summary (page blocked). A racer called the swim warm, clean and free of reeds, the bike a few drags with no real hill, and the run mostly flat with one short climb of under 100 m (330 ft). Another post mentioned a horse on the bike course.

  • Swim-club reports from the same broad: 17 °C (63 °F) and compulsory wetsuits on 14 July 2024, but 21.1 °C (70 °F) with no wetsuits on 9 July 2023. Not a triathlon, but useful for the range of water temperatures. Seen via search summary only.
