Dan said his Second Beach swim went smoothly, although the shallow entry meant he swam less than the advertised distance. He found the two-lap bike course hillier than the June race in the same series and attributed his slower run partly to the elevation. He preferred age-group starts because the time-trial start made his position hard to judge.
