What racers and reviewers say

  • A multi-race triathlete did the International on Saturday and the Double Sprint on Sunday, calling it a great weekend. She loved the friendly tri crowd, the lakeside motel on site and volunteering as a swim paddler, but found the heat brutal: about 90 °F (32 °C) on the Saturday run with extra reflected heat at Camp Clearwater. She noted a bike hand-off at the top of a rise, stray dogs on Highway 41, and no race officials, so rule-breaking (drafting, music) went unchecked.

“White Bake lived up to its moniker.”

    Beth
  • An age group winner at the Spring Sprint II (a different weekend at the same lake) called White Lake an absolutely beautiful venue, with crystal clear water over sand at about 70 °F (21 °C). She found the swim exit a long run up wooden pier ladders and the two-loop bike fast with slight winds. Transition was cramped with a ten-wave start, where she knocked two bikes over. Useful for the lake itself, not the fall format.

“White Lake is an absolutely beautiful venue for a triathlon.”

    Living The Tri Life blogger
  • Triathlete lists the White Lake Fall International and Double Sprint among its picks for the eastern U.S. It describes the two-day weekend and the unusual reverse-style Double Sprint (swim, run, bike, run, swim) as a fun way to mix things up and practise transitions, because the distances are short. Editorial list; no race-day detail.

“a fun way to mix things up and practice your transitions”
