The writer enjoyed a quiet solo hike on the wooded JFA trail, while noting that traffic from park roads and Highway 11 was audible on parts of the route.

    Source context and limitations

Perspective: course preview outside the race; race-day execution is not established. Historical outside-race hiking perspective from October 2017. The current Pleasant Ridge Backyard Ultra explicitly uses sections of the JFA trail plus paved paths. This writer took a shorter route using Sassy’s Pass; she does not review the race, its complete loop or current trail conditions.
