Mac McComas, race founder and director, via Mackyard Ultra · 2022

Mac remembered slow loops with friends in brutal heat and was surprised by how many people wanted to join or return for another gathering.

    Source context and limitations

Perspective: event staff; this affiliated account is not an independent participant review. The founder’s firsthand retrospective on August 30, 2022, published by the race account in October 2026. This is an affiliated organizer’s memory of the small neighborhood gathering that began the Maryland event, not an independent athlete review or a verified completion distance. The official history explicitly links that origin to Druid Hill Park in 2023–2025 and the move to Shawan Downs in 2026. The old heat and loop experience do not describe the current venue, course, services or safety. No numerical rating is assigned.
