The author valued the mountain scenery and volunteers’ help but found altitude, climbs and hail exceptionally demanding. Finishing the first mountain race felt rewarding.

    Source context and limitations

This is a September 2014 account of Endure’s predecessor, Tommyknocker, in Woodland Park. The organizer documents later name, venue and format changes. It is historical event-lineage context, not a review of the current Mueller State Park course or 12-hour format.
