A 2019 Aspen runner found the gradual downhill fast and appreciated well-supplied aid and finish food. Poor marking led him off course late in the race; this is a historical observation.

  • DragonFly 2009: a satisfying effort on steep, muddy sections ↗

    Tri-James · 2009

Event context · see format details

Tri-James felt comfortable in the swim and pleased with his effort. Two short bike climbs felt steep, and the wet, muddy singletrack made him cautious on the run. He found that run more challenging than his previous race.

Historical June 2009 participant account: half-mile swim, roughly 18-mile bike and four-mile run. These old lengths and steep or muddy sections differ from today’s advertised Sprint/Olympic courses. Personal racing effort and that weekend’s storms shaped the assessment. No gifted entry is stated.

Ryan Hulshizer enjoyed sharing the triathlon experience with his son and appreciated the support of friends and family. His son handled the swim while he took on the cycling and running.

Historical family relay account, displayed July 25; the raced edition and exact distances are unknown. He describes sharing the event with his son, not completing all three legs individually. This is a personal reaction to teamwork and support, with no current course or service assessment.

    Rue, Helmuts Fahrrad-Seiten public forum · 2009

Event context · see format details

Rue enjoyed the coastal setting, varied field, volunteers and spectators, although the unwetsuited swim felt cold and the bike was windy. They were happy to finish and wanted to return, but disliked a disputed late-entry surcharge and being charged again for a certificate after leaving the receipt behind.

Complete public first-person forum report posted 8 June 2009, retained in the publisher’s public archive. This concerns the old Herrenkoog / Stäljmun race, explicitly identified by the current patron club as the event revived under the Koog Kollektiv name. Organization, fees, route lengths, weather and services have not been established as continuous across the long hiatus. The historical complaints are attributed to the writer and are not claims about the 2026 organizers. Public pseudonym only; identity independently unverified.

    Daniel Williams · 2022

Event context · see format details

Williams found the return swim rougher than expected and briefly held a safety kayak before continuing. Muddy mountain-bike riding was harder than he anticipated; his run settled after the first lap. He finished relieved and felt underprepared.

Firsthand 2022 Beastie cross-triathlon participant report. The author questions the swim measurement without independently verifying it; no longer swim is asserted as fact. Complete actual leg lengths are uncertain, so this remains historical event context rather than a precisely distance-matched review.

    Richard Martin

Event context · see format details

Martin describes crowding and difficulty settling in the mass-start swim, with a safety kayaker accompanying him. He completed the swim and found the bike and run more enjoyable, recommending the event to beginners while recognizing his limited preparation.

Firsthand participant account of the Beastie cross triathlon by Richard Martin. Edition year is unstated; a July 8article label does not establish the race year. Historical 750 m / 17 km / 5 km cross-triathlon context, not a current wetsuit or water-temperature claim.

  • Tri Millennium: historical general-event recommendation ↗

    Jason Brower

Event context · see format details

Jason praised the course, organization and spectator friendliness on his first outing at Millennium.

Jason’s historical general-event recommendation is shared here because the Captain and Angel registration explicitly places that program at Tri Millennium in Millennium Park. His actual discipline, distance and year are unknown. He does not assess adaptive assistance, the Captain or Angel experience, or current services. The program listing contains conflicting discipline and distance labels; this account does not resolve them. This is the same underlying recommendation also displayed on the general event listing, not another independent athlete or physical race. No numerical rating is inferred.

  • A youth triathlete said crowd encouragement helped ↗

    Youth triathlete interviewed by CN2 · 2018

Event context · see format details

A youth triathlete said that hearing spectators chant her name helped her during the race.

Historical youth-finale context from a CN2 news report hosted on the organizer YMCA’s public YouTube channel. The video is titled Race 4 Chase, July 30, 2018 and was uploaded August 20, 2018; the exact race day is not independently resolved. The interviewed athlete says crowd encouragement helped her race, and the original on-screen label explicitly identifies her as a Race4Chase triathlete. The complete native automatic transcript was read; the full video was not watched. This is one selected youth participant’s brief personal reaction, with organizer-hosted selection bias. It does not establish an adult experience, current eligibility, current course or current event services.

Deb enjoyed the pool setting and considered Secret City approachable for beginners. She found the bike flat and fast but the run hilly, and still loved the race despite her difficult run.

Brief July 2017 participant recap within a multi-race season report. Full raced leg lengths are unstated. She describes the pool as 100 yards; the current primary says 100 meters. Only the Secret City paragraph applies here, not her Cohutta or Chattanooga experiences. Current divisions and conditions may differ; no gifted entry or organizer role is stated.

Her first-person report was published August 7, 2026 about the Shell Lake Lions swim/bike/run. It is historical event context, with no star rating. She reports that swimmers followed a leader who missed a buoy; that is her observation, not an official course measurement. The publisher’s archive pagination can change.

  • A spectator enjoyed watching the McPherson triathlon ↗

    Kira Treffer

Event context · see format details

Kira Treffer said she enjoyed watching the McPherson triathlon while supporting a first-time racer.

Perspective: spectator; this is not a finisher review. Brief firsthand spectator reaction, not the racer’s own review. The complete caption names McPherson, Kansas and describes a 200-meter swim, seven-mile bike and two-mile run, matching the adult event family. It says the race occurred that morning; displayed comments are dated July 25, 2026, but an edition year is conservatively left unassigned. Her impression that the athlete was hooked is not treated as his own feedback. This personal enjoyment does not establish course quality, present services, safety or an athlete consensus. No distance-specific athlete feedback is assigned.

    u/sprcow · 2022

Event context · see format details

The runner liked this small local fundraiser and appreciated repeated access to aid and their cheering spouse. Repeated loops were less appealing, and exposed sections in July heat made the later miles difficult. Slow toilet lines also required extra time before the start.

Other-distance context from u/sprcow’s 2022 half marathon. Heat, humidity and their personal pacing shaped the account. The half-marathon loops and repeated aid access do not establish the full-marathon layout or current conditions; the report’s lengthy watch-training discussion is excluded.

Lange describes very shallow, muddy water where her hands touched the bottom, narrow winding bike paths and short, steep bridges interrupting the run. She nevertheless praises the setting and organization, while the quoted group regretted being too far from Hannover to see the other Finals sports.

Direct 2026 age-group athlete interview in Bargteheide Aktuell, with Lange’s Bargteheide team affiliation disclosed. The source’s introduction says 20 km bike but detailed narrative says 18 km; the discrepancy is retained, not resolved as a measured distance. These comments do not describe the elite or relay race.
