Duncan regarded Freedom Park’s main paved walking trail as a good option for exercise and family walks.
Community opinion; participation and firsthand experience are not established. An older attributed opinion of Freedom Park’s main paved walking trail, described by Duncan as roughly one mile each way. His attendance, exact walked sections, visit year and affiliation are unverified. The shared component is inferred from the current school-to-park route and the named paved trail descriptions; the assessment does not isolate every shared metre or describe the whole marathon. Older trail descriptions give 1.2 miles, while the retained 2023 map legend gives 1.0 mile, and historical layout may differ. This is one source reused for two listings. Garden and other amenity praise, stars, current conditions, markings and race services are excluded.

DEO · 2025
Marathon
DEO found the scenery exceptional and praised staff and volunteers, but sand and climbs made the course demanding. A steep sandy hill disrupted the planned six-hour pacing, and the runner would have preferred an earlier start to avoid the warmth.

Jessica and Kevin, interviewed by Rise and Run · 2025
Marathon
Jessica found the full marathon lonely after the half-marathon runners split away and disliked the uneven roads and potholes. Kevin felt anxious about the time limit, but remembered his police escort’s finish-line music fondly. Staff kept the arch, some food and his medal available for his late finish.
Two runners’ full-marathon recollections from 2025, read in the podcast’s published transcript. The show is sponsored and uses affiliate links; the guests are members of its listener community. Their experiences differ by pace, and Jessica’s late-race difficulties were personal. For 2026, the organizer announces route changes, so the road and finish observations may not apply unchanged. Kevin’s late finish does not establish a flexible cutoff policy.
