Bernie (The Global Adventurer) · 2019

    Marathon

Bernie enjoyed the race and found plenty of water and some fruit at aid stations. Parts of the early course were very dark. Heat, humidity and a rushed travel schedule made the finish tiring; Bernie wished there had been more recovery time around the trip.

A 2019 full-marathon account by Bernie, distinct from her companion’s10km race. Darkness and aid observations belong to that edition. The short travel turnaround and jet lag were personal circumstances. Current course, start times and services may differ.

    Simon Martineau · 2023

Event context · see format details

Martineau enjoyed clear lake water and a familiar bike course but found the heat increasingly difficult on the bike and early run. Cooling at an aid station and joining other runners helped him recover his rhythm. He praises the family atmosphere, volunteers and value, including a bottle of champagne for finishers instead of a medal or shirt.

First-person 2023 L-distance account published as three original SCO Angers club slides. Actual reported legs are nonstandard and are retained explicitly, rather than normalized to 1.9 / 90 / 21.1 km. Heat, water clarity and finisher gifts describe that edition.
