What racers and reviewers say

  • Race ambassador (sponsored post) did the Olympic in 3:40: choppy ocean swim with waves 8-10 min apart, a flat scenic four-loop bike where people ignored no-passing zones, a two-loop park run and fast packet pickup, free photos and a lively after-party.

  • Charity athlete placed 6th of 170 overall in the Olympic: swim 0.9 mi (1.45 km) in pink caps with a 1 h 15 min beach wait, a shortish 21 mi (34 km) bike with chaotic turns and crowding, and a run where spectators helped but heat and under-fuelling slowed her.

  • Slowtwitch: Boston Triathlon threadRaced 2018 · forum · Mixed

Posters from 2016-2018: ocean-style swim calm one year, choppy the next, cancelled another; flat fast four-loop bike but about 14 slowdowns and 3 U-turns per loop and busy for later waves; flat, boring sidewalk run; very well organised but pricey.

    “very well organized”

    Flytechelite, gguerini, others
  • Sponsored guide promoting flat courses, a car-free bike, relay options and a post-race party; useful on beginner friendliness but promotional.

  • Profile of the race director: separate bike and run roads after expanded permits made the course safer and faster, calm clean water at Carson Beach, 65% Massachusetts entrants and a field that said it felt like a world championship without the stress.
