- DC Rainmaker: Escape from Ft. Desoto tri raceRaced 2009 · blog · Mixed
Report from the 2009 edition with about 1,300 racers: fog hid the buoys and delayed the start 30 min, the bike was flat and windless, and the run had a long sandy transition, stairs at the fort and poor marking with no marshals. He still finished in his age group win and called it fun and fast.
“a good fun race with a very fast (and flat) course”
- Slowtwitch: Anyone race Fort De Soto tris lately? (thread, 3 posters)Raced 2023 · forum · Mixed
Dec 2025 thread. One racer (about 2023) found the swim very rough and shortened for wave height and the 25 mm-tire bike like constant washboard, but the run nice and would return. Another (about 2021-22) had good water, a closed no-traffic bike and recommends it. The race director now advises 30 mm tires.
