Why people love it

  • Women-only race built for first-timers, with a super sprint and relays beside the sprint
  • 274 m (300 yd) pool swim, lined up by your own time, so no open-water worries
  • Racers describe a supportive, high-energy mood
  • Central Memorial Park venue, 13 km (8 mi) from El Paso airport
  • Early May desert morning, usually dry

Watch out for

  • The 29 km (18 mi) bike has named urban hills, tougher than the sprint label suggests
  • Packet pickup is on a weekday evening at a different site, with photo ID
  • Altitude of about 1,160 m (3,800 ft) and spring wind can slow you
  • Only one TV report from racers, so most details come from listings
  • Registration page dates for 2026 and 2027 are inconsistent
