    Hogan Haake · 2026

Event context · see format details

Hogan found the morning unexpectedly cold and worried as the swim grew windy and rough. He enjoyed watching the run from the elevated beach-to-city walkway and was glad to cheer for his son and the college team.

Perspective: spectator; this is not a finisher review. A parent and team supporter’s complete March 28, 2026 account of the collegiate club Olympic race in Gulfport, published in June. He did not race. Weather, shallow-water observations and viewing arrangements describe that day; this does not review the separate elite Cup, age-group festival race or next edition.

    Norbert Haupt · 2025

Event context · see format details

On a November 2025 mountain-bike outing around Diamond Valley Lake, Norbert Haupt described much of the perimeter dirt road as rutted. The cold, drizzly and quiet conditions made him feel isolated while riding without his phone.

Perspective: course preview outside the race; race-day execution is not established. Outside-race cycling context from November 22, 2025 on the Diamond Valley Lake perimeter road, which forms part of the marathon’s lake loop. The race registration advertises course changes for 2026, so this does not establish the current surface, extra marathon sections, weather, staffing or aid. His isolation comment concerns that quiet day and riding without his phone, not a general race-safety finding. No race-organizer affiliation is stated.

    Sean Anderson · 2009

Event context · see format details

Sean Anderson described a 2009 power walk around Boomer Lake on its continuous paved sidewalk as both enjoyable and unusually hard because of the intense heat that day.

Perspective: course preview outside the race; race-day execution is not established. Historical outside-race course context from an August 2009 walk around Boomer Lake. The current mapped race uses part of the same paved lakeside circuit, repeated to reach race distance. His difficult heat experience applies only to that old summer day and is not a forecast or typical race condition. This does not review the current route’s full distance, surface, aid or organization. No race-organizer affiliation is stated.

    Ultra

Ryan values the developing community and responsive race director, who supplied ice during the heat. He likes the varied loop but recommends personal food because the donated aid offerings were unpredictable.

Reported format: 24-hour solo trail ultra; 90 mi (144.8 km) completed. Author is a Team RunRun coach.

  • A local cycling recommendation for the paved loop ↗

Fred Hewitt, reported by Kimbra Hennessy

Event context · see format details

A local bike-shop owner recommended Bill Frederick Park’s paved loop for cycling.

Community opinion; participation and firsthand experience are not established. Historical community cycling context, attributed to Full Circle Cycle owner Fred Hewitt in Kimbra Hennessy’s magazine article. The article reports his recommendation; his own visit and its date are not established. The proposed MileBuilt course uses the park’s paved loop network, but matching it to Hewitt’s two-mile route is an inference: exact shared branches and distance remain unconfirmed. This does not establish a route around the entire lake or assess the complete race course. The ease and scenery descriptions of his separate Eagle’s Nest Park recommendation are excluded. No race participation, current condition, services or safety assessment is claimed.

    Emme (mrsartis) · 2019

Emme liked the scenic hills, clear markings, enthusiastic director and substantial race gear. She found the later flat section mentally difficult and reported some cup shortages that staff tried to fix; slower runners still had finish support.

    Natasha K · 2018

    Marathon

A 2018 finisher loved the river canyon scenery, friendly small field and well-organized buses, aid and meals. Road camber aggravated an existing injury, and she found the two later hills demanding. The quiet course offered little spectator support.

Reported format: marathon. Published on running-coaching business TeamRunRun; one athlete perspective.

    Marathon

The runner was glad to finish with a Boston-qualifying time despite an uncomfortable race. A rushed arrival left little time for long toilet queues, and a pothole early on unsettled their ankle. Their limited recent road running and poor sleep also shaped the experience.

A brief, pseudonymous 2019 full-marathon account. Late arrival, poor sleep and limited road preparation shaped the runner’s discomfort. The pothole and queue observations concern that edition, and a personal qualifying result does not establish course speed or guarantee Boston entry.

  • Community writer praised the Gulfport event’s regional impact ↗

    Tripp Arnold

Event context · see format details

Tripp Arnold felt CLASH raised the standard for coastal endurance events and expressed pride in Gulfport hosting the weekend.

Community opinion; participation and firsthand experience are not established. Historical attributed community assessment from a March 30 post about the preceding Gulfport CLASH weekend. The writer uses Army and West Point triathlon hashtags; his exact affiliation, attendance, race role, edition and distance are unknown. This is his broad judgment of the event’s regional impact, not an independent athlete review or proof of particular services. His claim about countries represented and other people’s changed views is not independently verified and is excluded. No experience is transferred to other CLASH venues or from collegiate programmes to current age-group services. Photos were not assessed.
